Everyone approaching the Three Mast Schooner for the first time is stunned by the very sight of her. There, one of the last of the glorious four master barks lies at the pier. This is no museum ship, but a lady born to sail. The snow-white hull, warm teak superstructures and gleaming brass still define the character and noble charm of this sailing ship rich in tradition and legend. Even the original engine room still operates perfectly. Yet the state of the art navigational aids help it to meet even the most stringent of International high seas safety regulations. Pulsing with new life, the largest of all private four-master barks slipped down the ways to cruise again – with all the historical aura of long forgotten windjammers, and the comforts of a modern cruise liner – just like Phoenix rising from the ashes. A days run is the stretch of sea a ship covers in 24 hours. For the crew, it means six watches of four hours each. For her passengers, it means a day filled with discovery, new experiences or sweet relaxation. Stabilized by her great masts, she gives a much smoother ride than many larger passenger ships. But what if it is calm, or the wind is blowing straight off the bow? No problem! Four powerful diesel engines with a total of 6,000 horsepower navigate her through the water at a speed of 12 knots with her sails furled.

  • The opulence of the cabins allows one to forget that one is aboard a “windjammer” – the fireplaces and bathrooms of massive Carrara marble, the finely etched wall-sized dressing mirror, the mahogany secretary, exquisite Louis Philippe chairs and the magnificent French bed in antique white with goldleaf ornamentation. The original guest cabins often quartered famous people. Although these cabins were renovated, great care was taken to maintain their earlier ambience. The newer cabins, too, have their own marble bathrooms, comfortable beds and spacious closets. The cabins that were added to the ship during its full refurbishment in 1979 were enlarged and beautifully renovated in the summer of 1993, incorporating many suggestions from former passengers. Cabin space was increased, more luxurious bathrooms were built. The walls were panelled with warm wood and brass trimmings. New oil paintings and pastel-coloured fabrics were added, creating a rich but cozy ambience.
All cabins equipped with air conditioning, safe, telephone, hair dryer, bathrobes.
Air conditioned dining room accommodates all guests at one sitting.
